First and foremost, make sure that you really want to be in sales. We want to feel that ambition, that drive and your desire for a career in sales. Do you want a junior sales job or a sales career? You’ve got the long-term perspective in mind.
Another thing that’s important is that you’re coachable. So what are people like me looking for in junior sales? We want to feel that hunger to learn and the hunger for mentorship.
The third thing that’s really important is that we feel your drive. So you have to have an inner fuel or an inner fire to keep you going all day. Sales is a really tough job and you need a lot of motivation.
So although you can get motivation from your sales manager, you really need to have something inside that makes you tick. Look for a drive.
Additionally, please be realistic. You’re a junior sales and you don’t have a lot of experience. You have a lot to learn. Ambition is fine. Ambition is something that we want to see. But of course, you have to be realistic about the fact that there are a lot of steps to take.
So, try to impress us with how bad you want the job that’s right now in front of you and how much you want to learn, instead of saying you want to be a sales manager in 4 years.
